Trenchless Sewer Repair Pros and Cons

Trenchless sewer repair can be done in as little as three hours, typically making it more effective than traditional pipeline repair. Furthermore, it is less invasive and doesn't destroy your yard.

Traditional sewer repair can tear apart driveways, landscaping, roots, gardens and other outdoor property fixtures. Likewise, you can save money and hassle from filling out permit applications, re-routing traffic, and waiting days for your project to be complete.

Perma-Liner sewer line repair involves creating a seamless plastic pipe within the old pipe. The technology pulls through the damaged pipe and then is inflated. It is corrosion-resistant and jointless.

Perma-Liner comes with a 10-year manufacturers warranty, while PVC pipe warranties vary from 2 to 5 years, depending on the manufacturer. Ask your expert plumbers at Krupp Whitney for more information on product warranties!

Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Cost

Our Perma-Liner technology is the most effective way of sealing your pipes for maximum value and minimal repair costs. Some of the biggest cost factors you should be aware of are:

  • The length and depth of the dig
  • Concrete obstacles such as street or sidewalks
  • Other natural obstacles such as trees or shrubbery
  • Landscaping work-arounds
  • If there needs to be a replaced connection to the sewer main

Depending on how much line needs cut, the costs to excavate (including obtaining permits for sidewalk and street cutting) could be much more than installing Perma-Liner. Krupp Whitney wants to give you the best value for your project.

Does that sewer line repair quote that seems a bit too high? Talk to us! Krupp Whitney will match ANY written quote within reason. Give us a call or drop us a line today!

When I reached out to the professionals at KW they immediately accepted my request.  In the end the plumbing problems were repaired withing one week and I saved $8,000 over the original quote.  I would recommend them to anyone after that camera test comes back with an $18,000 quote. - Dan R., Sewickley

How Trenchless Sewer Repair Works

Krupp-Whitney Trenchless Sewer Repar TruckYou might have backup from roots in your pipes, or buildup if you have cast-iron piping -- or it’s completely rusted away.

We use our IMS Robotics reinstatement cutting robot to navigate through the pipeline, cutting any branches that may need to drain back into your lateral line.

Krupp Whitney first goes through a camera inspection to determine the severity of the issue and determine that trenchless sewer repair is the correct method of repair.

Likewise, our Picote System preps and cleans the lateral before the liner is installed. This helps to de-scale the cast iron and remove root infiltration to restore the host pipe for line install.

Remove Roots from Your Sewer Line Without Assistance

Roots can invade cracked pipes in older structures, creating clogs. While all homes with this issue will eventually require a replacement, you can temporarily help this cause and delay service:

  • Purchase two pounds of copper sulfate from your local hardware store.
  • Pour the solution in your toilet bowl, ½ cup at a time, flushing after each pour.
  • Leave the last ½ cup overnight, flush the next day.

Can Homeowners Insurance Help With Sewer Line Replacement?

The cost of sewer line replacement typically falls on the homeowner. However, many policies offer options to protect against damages done to your home if your lateral backs up. Talk with your local insurance agent if you are concerned about your home’s susceptibility to sewer line backup problems.

If you live in the municipality of Pittsburgh or surrounding area, check with the PWSA if your sewer line backs up -- if the issue is with your main sewer line and not your lateral, it falls on them to replace it!

Krupp Whitney will always work with your insurance company if policy allows! We are licensed, insured, and bonded to ensure that you and your home are fully protected. We’re so confident in our work, all parts and services come with a one-year warranty. Krupp Whitney Plumbing gets the job done right, right on budget.
