What is Trenchless Sewer Repair?
Trenchless sewer repair can be done in as little as three hours, typically making it more effective than traditional pipeline repair. Furthermore, it is less invasive and doesn’t destroy your yard.
Traditional sewer repair can tear apart driveways, landscaping, roots, gardens and other outdoor property fixtures. Likewise, you can save money and hassle from filling out permit applications, re-routing traffic, and waiting days for your project to be complete.
Perma-Liner sewer line repair involves creating a seamless plastic pipe within the old pipe. The technology pulls through the damaged pipe and then is inflated. It is corrosion-resistant and jointless.
Perma-Liner comes with a 10-year manufacturers warranty, while PVC pipe warranties vary from 2 to 5 years, depending on the manufacturer. Ask your expert plumbers at Krupp Whitney for more information on product warranties!
Trenchless Sewer Repair
Pros and Cons
Our Perma-Liner technology is the most effective way of sealing your pipes for maximum value and minimal repair costs. Some of the biggest cost factors you should be aware of are:
- The length and depth of the dig
- Concrete obstacles such as street or sidewalks
- Other natural obstacles such as trees or shrubbery
- Landscaping work-arounds
- If there needs to be a replaced connection to the sewer main
Depending on how much line needs cut, the costs to excavate (including obtaining permits for sidewalk and street cutting) could be much more than installing Perma-Liner. Krupp Whitney wants to give you the best value for your project.
Does that sewer line repair quote that seems a bit too high? Talk to us! Krupp Whitney will match ANY written quote within reason. Give us a call or drop us a line today!

How Trenchless Sewer Repair Works
You might have backup from roots in your pipes, or buildup if you have cast-iron piping — or it’s completely rusted away.
We use our IMS Robotics reinstatement cutting robot to navigate through the pipeline, cutting any branches that may need to drain back into your lateral line.
Krupp Whitney first goes through a camera inspection to determine the severity of the issue and determine that trenchless sewer repair is the correct method of repair.
Likewise, our Picote System preps and cleans the lateral before the liner is installed. This helps to de-scale the cast iron and remove root infiltration to restore the host pipe for line install.—
UV curing with trenchless technology
UV curing for our CIPP process creates a new pipe with no damage to existing pipes, lower risk of damage, improved safety, and a faster project timeline than traditional sewer repairs.
Our team create entry points on either end of the existing pipe which allows for a glass-reinforced polyester liner which is filled with a special UV resin to enter the pipe. Once the UV lights are activated to cure the resin, a new, stronger, more durable pipe has be created within the existing pipes.
PERMA-LINER TECHNOLOGY
Our Perma-Liner helps make old pipes new again with minimal digging. Because of this, your necessary repairs are quicker, less expensive, and as a result, less stressful for you. Remember, Pittsburgh and many of its suburbs, whether it’s Upper St. Clair or Pittsburgh’s Northside or Southside, have homes that have been around for generations. That means sewer lines, storm drains and water carrying infrastructure are more than ready for improvement, and Perma-Liner is the ideal solution!
Perma-Liner is the most effective way to fix any problems with your pipes. This technology can fix cracked pipes and sewers, and is able to connect pipes that have missing sections. It also eradicates the worries of roots busting into pipes or storm water leaks.
Before Perma-Liner, which was developed in 1999, a damaged sewer would require digging up your yard, and possibly even your driveway and other structures the pipes may run under. Now, with Perma-Liner technology, these pipes can look and function as if they are brand new and last for a minimum of 50 years. As one of the first companies in the Pittsburgh area to implement the use of this technology, our knowledge and expertise are second-to-none.
Krupp Whitney uses Perma-Lateral to fix all small pipe problems. This system uses and inflated bladder to line the damaged pipe. The bladder is expanded and the liner is cured. Afterwards, the bladder is removed and the permanently cured liner is left in place. These repairs are generally done in one day and the liners can dry in as little as three hours, saving you time and money.
Zero-Dig Pipe Repair Technology
In order to verify that installation was done properly, we insert a camera from an access point into the pipe to inspect it.
The inspection satisfies two objectives:
- To ensure the integrity of your new sewer drain
- Many municipalities now require a visual inspection of sewer lines before a home can be sold.
